Alternative theatres are a huge hit in Santiago de Compostela. In collaboration with the cultural representatives, the thriving alternative theater scene aims to promote the city’s cultural objectives, and subsequently makes up the city’s grassroots culture. This cultural dissemination is tied up with municipal venues such as the Auditorio de Galicia and Teatro Principal, in order to establish a solid foundation for Santiago’s pillars of human, cultural and economic development.
Apart from all this, there is the Santiago de Compostela Film Commission, which is a non profit audiovisual promotion office created as a public service in 2002 by the City Council. The agency aims to boost the city’s film and audiovisual industry and all of its related services. Moreover, it is their task to facilitate relations between audiovisual production companies and the industry’s services and facilities in the city, process permits, provide filming assistance service, location service, and maintenance of a permanent contact with the community, production companies and the government.
The Film Commission’s address is: Rúa do Vilar, 68, 1º 15705, A Coruña, with contact number 981 580 499, e-mail: scfc@santiagoturismo.com. Check out their website as well: www.santiagoturismo/scfc.
